Location/Props/Costumes
Location:
I will need to take images to place on my front cover. To do so I will need to find a suitable location, a location that will have good enough light and scenery to make my image fit my front cover. The location I have chosen is that college drama studio, I have picked this location because it has light that can be changed to suit my liking, and this means I can take quite an interesting image, I have a few in mind that will surely suit my liking and my magazine. Because we can control the light, it means that we would be able to manipulate the background also to our liking, as in we could have a birds eye view with the light. Without these features, I feel like my audience would be drawn away if the image if not to a relatable standard.
Props/costumes:
When getting my image, I will not need any props or costumes. I do not need any props as I feel like this would ruin the magazine’s image as props would not work with the image I am trying to create.

Magazine Industry Review
Magazine industry review:
Magazine companies make money in various ways, for a start
they let large and small companies advertise in their magazines, the large
companies will pay more to be on the main page or to be on multiple pages, this
will then invite the reader to visit the companies store and the company will
then make their money back over time so overall it is a wise investment most of
the time. The small companies or businesses may only just be starting off so
they want to put their business on the grid, usually they may be mentioned at
the back of the magazine or on a less popular page, this of course if rather
cheap. They also may offer deals to the buyers, this is used to manipulate the reader
into buying the magazine. This will in fact benefit the reader as they will be
getting deals, it will benefit the actual magazine company as they will be
making money and it also benefits the company that is advertising their deals. The
top 5 magazine publishers around at the moment are as followed; IPC Media Ltd,
Hearst Magazines UK, Future Publishing Ltd, Dennis Publishing Limited and Conde
Nast Publications Ltd. These are companies that create individual magazines but
there is only one issue with all of these companies, they maybe the most
popular publishers, but the magazine industry is rapidly declining due to
technology, because of technology, people are not physically buying the
magazine, they are reading the news or the actual magazine online for free,
although this is not making the company money, it will still be advertising the
magazine which will help over time with overall profit.

Magazine Analysis
VIBe magazine analysis:
Vibe is a magazine company that primarily focuses on R&B
and Hip-Hop. It was first founded by Quincy jones in 1993 but unfortunately was
not successful enough to sustain itself and in 2009 shutdown. Vibe was then
purchased by Intermedia Partners who focus on having the magazine online and
pushed out semi-monthly. Intermedia
Partners added a new audience to its list, rap. With rap backing the magazine
too the company was then magazine to sustain its self. The whole idea of Vibe
was new to a lot of people, so many people turned down The Source and XXL, 2
other magazine companies which focused on rock and pop-centric music, so in
some ways Vibe has these companies to thank for the success rate that is has
and why it is as big as it is today. Since Vibe’s re-opening, 300,943 copies of the
Vibe magazine have been circulated around the world. The company has sold a
total of 202,439 physical copies and 98,504 online non paid copies. In 2013, it
was announced that Vibe had been sold to Spin Media to work alongside Vibe.com
and VibeVixen.com, although, one representative said that they were likely to
shut down Vibe’s print magazines by the end of 2013, this of course has not
happened. Vibe is well known for having famous artists on their front covers,
overtime they have had Trey Songz, Brandy, Snoop Dogg, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson, Lil Wayne, , Eminem, Michael Jackson and many
more. I believe that due to these famous faces, Vibe’s publicity has shot up
and because of these artists, Vibe has become a hugely known throughout the
entire world.

Questionnaire Results
Questionnaire analysis:
From the results of the questionnaire we can clearly see
that most people do not read any form of college magazine. This means that the
products does not actually work for whatever reason.
From the
questionnaire we can also tell what colours people want. The colours are as
followed; Red (The most popular), Black, White and Blue (This being the least
favoured). This means that my magazine will contains 3 of the listed colours.
These will most probably be White, Red and Black as these were the most popular
out of all the colours.
When it
comes to how often we produce the product, 30% of the people said they would
like it termly and 30% said they would like it monthly. To decide what one to
go for I looked at how often people would like it fortnightly and added it to
monthly and it totalled to 50% which meant I went for the monthly option.
It is quite
difficult to decide on a price but in the end I went for the 50p option for one
reason, this reason is because in the magazine there will be discount codes and
offers which meant I would charge for the magazine.
