VIBe magazine analysis:
Vibe is a magazine company that primarily focuses on R&B
and Hip-Hop. It was first founded by Quincy jones in 1993 but unfortunately was
not successful enough to sustain itself and in 2009 shutdown. Vibe was then
purchased by Intermedia Partners who focus on having the magazine online and
pushed out semi-monthly. Intermedia
Partners added a new audience to its list, rap. With rap backing the magazine
too the company was then magazine to sustain its self. The whole idea of Vibe
was new to a lot of people, so many people turned down The Source and XXL, 2
other magazine companies which focused on rock and pop-centric music, so in
some ways Vibe has these companies to thank for the success rate that is has
and why it is as big as it is today. Since Vibe’s re-opening, 300,943 copies of the
Vibe magazine have been circulated around the world. The company has sold a
total of 202,439 physical copies and 98,504 online non paid copies. In 2013, it
was announced that Vibe had been sold to Spin Media to work alongside Vibe.com
and VibeVixen.com, although, one representative said that they were likely to
shut down Vibe’s print magazines by the end of 2013, this of course has not
happened. Vibe is well known for having famous artists on their front covers,
overtime they have had Trey Songz, Brandy, Snoop Dogg, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson, Lil Wayne, , Eminem, Michael Jackson and many
more. I believe that due to these famous faces, Vibe’s publicity has shot up
and because of these artists, Vibe has become a hugely known throughout the
entire world.
